El fen\u00f3meno hist\u00f3rico de la Caza de Brujas fue perpetrado por inquisidores con doble moral que, por una parte, juzgaban a sus v\u00edctimas bajo el nombre de Dios, mientras que, al mismo tiempo, hac\u00edan uso faccioso del poder que se les hab\u00eda concedido en beneficio de sus intereses, su avaricia y su lascivia. El inquisidor Mathew Hopkins (Vincent Price), el personaje m\u00e1s interesante de Witchfinder General<\/em> encarna, precisamente, todos esos vicios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pese a estar situada puntualmente en 1645, en medio de la Guerra Civil Brit\u00e1nica, Witchfinder General<\/em> no privilegia el rigor hist\u00f3rico ni el desarrollo de una l\u00ednea argumental que dialogue de manera compleja con su contextualizaci\u00f3n temporal. La cinta apuesta por la exaltaci\u00f3n, ante todo, de los tormentos y las torturas infligidas a las acusadas \u2014 y en este caso, tambi\u00e9n a los acusados\u2014 de brujer\u00eda, lo cual, le vali\u00f3 actos de censura en su tiempo y, en d\u00e9cadas posteriores, la admiraci\u00f3n de ciertos sectores de amantes del cine de terror \u201cde culto\u201d. No obstante, la pel\u00edcula no aporta una visi\u00f3n particularmente novedosa u original en torno al fen\u00f3meno hist\u00f3rico de la Caza de Brujas y, como sucede con varias cintas bajo este tenor, el papel de las mujeres (brujas) queda supeditado y opacado frente al de los hombres, quienes desempe\u00f1an roles mucho m\u00e1s activos ya sea como inquisidores o como \u201cdefensores\u201d y \u201cprotectores\u201d de las acusadas de brujer\u00eda.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
