She remains one of horror cinema\u2019s most ambivalent figures, in part because she is the amalgamation of fictional and non-fictional histories and myths. As a piece of folk horror cinema, <em>The Witch<\/em> deepens the ambiguity of its central figure, offering the witch variously as a symbol of female desire, female power, patriarchal fear and patriarchal power.\u201d<strong>(p.38)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:32px\"><em>Witches, \u201cBitches\u201d or Feminist Trailblazers?<\/em><br><em>The Witch in Folk Horror Cinema <\/em>(2019)<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Autora:<\/strong> Chlo\u00e9 Germaine Buckley<br><a href=\"http:\/\/www.revenantjournal.com\/contents\/witches-bitches-or-feminist-trailblazers-the-witch-in-folk-horror-cinema-chloe-germaine-buckley\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>E<\/strong>NLACE<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De acuerdo con la autora del texto, el cine de horror se ha encargado de formar una imagen ambigua de la bruja, la cual resulta problem\u00e1tica para el feminismo y su intento por subvertir o desestabilizar s\u00edmbolos mis\u00f3ginos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dentro del cine de brujas, aquellas cintas inspiradas en los textos \u201cantiguos\u201d generalmente reiteran una representaci\u00f3n completamente negativa del personaje, mientras que aquellas que evitan la citaci\u00f3n particular a esos textos abren la posibilidad a representaciones menos desfavorecedoras para las brujas (y por ende, para las mujeres).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Buckley menciona que en <em>The Wicker Man <\/em>(1973) se pueden visibilizar las m\u00faltiples miradas confusas que circundaban en ese tiempo respecto a la brujer\u00eda. Las mismas contradicciones se manifiestan en cuanto al posicionamiento pol\u00edtico de la cinta, a veces de car\u00e1cter feminista, a veces mis\u00f3gino. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En relaci\u00f3n con <a href=\"http:\/\/akerlanda.com\/the-witch-a-new-england-folktale-2015\/\"><em>The Witch<\/em> (2015)<\/a> Chlo\u00e9 Germaine Buckley sostiene que esta pel\u00edcula ha recibido una \u201csobre-interpretaci\u00f3n feminista\u201d, que probablemente no corresponda a la de la mayor\u00eda de las audiencias. De acuerdo con la autora del texto, muchas de las situaciones expuestas son el eco de lo presentado en otras cintas situadas en el s.XVII, las cuales, a su vez, se fundamentan en los textos fundacionales del arquetipo de la bruja (los cuales surgieron a partir de la mirada mis\u00f3gina masculina). Por lo que Buckley declara osadamente que <em>The Witch<\/em> no se libera por completo de un posicionamiento pol\u00edtico m\u00e1s bien abierto y ambivalente.
